Dear Community Partner,
YWCA Harbor Area has been a groundbreaking, trailblazing, and steadfast movement in San Pedro, Wilmington, and surrounding areas for over 100 years. We have never wavered from tackling critical issues in our community – and we are committed to continuing in 2023 by implementing solutions. Our mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all is a heavy task, but we believe the future is bright for our community when we can rely on supporters like you to help us carry out our mission.
Society as a whole – and our community – is at a turning point. Our community needs us to support and stand with them more than ever. We need to make eliminating racism a priority! This is your chance to implement real change in the lives of women, children, and families in San Pedro and surrounding communities. Each year, hundreds of women, men, children, and families create brighter futures for themselves and their community through YWCA Harbor Area and its programs.
Join us to invest in our collective power to create unlimited possibilities for all. Your support is crucial to providing essential services that strengthen our community – including
- Healthy Futures food distribution that tackles food insecurities
- Strive workforce development to get our community back to work with livable wages
- Second Chances vouchers to help families with household goods and clothing
- Worldtots childcare that is safe and affordable
- Holiday Programs for families in need including Breakfast with Santa and Adopt-a family
- Advocacy Agenda such as voters’ engagement, human trafficking awareness, leadership, and racial justice dialogue.
We are looking forward to expanding our achievements in eliminating racism and empowering women this year. This success is impossible without the support of great community-minded businesses like yours. We hope you will support our mission as a Community Partner.
Your sponsorship has the power to connect your organization to YWCA’s powerful legacy and community impact. We are excited to offer a wide range of benefits throughout our mission-aligned programs and events. YWCA IS ON A MISSION– Join Us!
Yours for a strengthened community,

YWCA Harbor Area | Program Overview
Healthy Futures
Healthy Futures is our community food distribution program which provides quality food and nutritional empowerment to families experiencing hardship. Donations of food and produce are brought to us weekly by our partner, Let’s Be Whole, from local grocery stores and local farmers. Each week we distribute hundreds of bags of fresh produce and food to local families to fight food insecurity.
Second Chances
Second Chances is our voucher program for families in need. Julia’s Closet, our thrift shop, promotes the idea of repurposing, and diverting items from landfills, by providing vouchers for families in need to purchase essential items such as clothing and household goods.
STRIVE and YWebTech
STRIVE is our Workforce Development Program offering fundamental digital skills and advanced coding training. Our program is unique in also addressing the necessary soft skills needed to advance in the job market. Participants receive wraparound services including resume development, interviewing skills, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
WorldTots
WTLA provides a safe environment where children have the freedom to experiment, question, and deal with their intellectual curiosity at their own pace. Our programs align with the curriculum set by the National Association for the Education standards. We provide carefully planned opportunities for observing, experimenting, talking, and listening, which serves to widen our students’ horizons.
Holiday Programs
Our Annual Holiday Program includes Thanksgiving Dinners for families and pre-made meals for individuals who are unable to prepare hot food. Breakfast with Santa brings Christmas to children in need including a visit with Santa, a toy, a book, and breakfast.
Advocacy Agenda
We center our advocacy agenda on eliminating racism and empowering women. Throughout the year we address policies/legislation, and educate the community through voter education, human trafficking awareness, women’s health issues, and racial justice.
